#ASUUSTRIKE: Resumption looms as FG and ASUU Settle for UTAS
Barring a last-minute change Universities in Nigeria which have been under locks and keys for over six months due Covid 19 and the Industrial action by ASUU may soon reopen.
Barely 24 hours after the meeting was held between the Senate president Ahmad Lawan and ASUU Chairman Prof Ogunyemi, the Senate president summoned the Minister of Labour, Minister of Finance, Accountant general of the federation and the Minister of Education to a meeting.
Addressing reporters after the meeting, the Minister of Labor Chris Ngige affirmed Federal Government's commitment to ending the strike and assured the public that the Federal Government will subject the UTAS platform to integrity test and adopt it if found to be better than IPPIS since it is a local content.
Our source in the Ministry of Labor and Employment said the strike will be suspended even as FG have compromised their stance on the controversial Integrated personnel payroll system.
